Imagemagick == win (just in case you didn’t know that already)
$ mkdir resized; mkdir thumbs; for x in *; do echo $x; convert $x -scale 512x384 resized/$x; convert $x -scale 128x96 thumbs/$x; done;
Dumping pictures wholesale off a camera with resizes and thumbs never got easier (short of buying software to do it for you). Of course, this doesn’t work if the pictures need to be manually cropped and shopped, but this will get a lot of work done without spending hours in photoshop or GIMP.
