Autumn Rains, Daisy Chains, and Aching Brains

It never occurred to me before now, but i hate umbrellas. I never really spend so much time outside that i ever get ’soaked through’, however since moving into my new place in burnaby, i’ve come to the realization that the act of walking home is not quite as non-trivial as it was when i was living near lougheed mall, primarily because it’s now all uphill rather than flat where i can make a mad dash home, with less available cover in general. So, for the past few days, i’ve been carrying around an umbrella, which i have come to regard as a silly sort of contraption that keeps your head dry, thought not much else, and loses you the use of one or more hands. I need to invest in a jacket with a hood. I think hoods are the way to go.

I caught a ride into surrey/langley (my parent’s house) last night because i needed to go into langley today, to pick up a book i had pre-ordered, the latest in Robert Jordan’s ‘Wheel of Time’ series. I pre-order books through langley’s Black Bond Books outlet, because i’ve been buying books from them for something like 10 years, (as they moved though 3 or 4 locations), and because they Remember My Name. There’s something that inspires customer loyalty when you can walk into a bookstore that you haven’t been to in several months, purchase a book, and the lady behind the counter remembers your name.

The BBB is on the langley bypass in a mini-outlet location next to an A&B sound, so i stopped by to pick up a stereo->RCA convertor to complement the S-Video cable that I use to plug my laptop into my parent’s tv whenever i show media. Then i had a bit of a fun time/headache factor working out how to get 5 externals plugged into a tv that only accepts 2 inputs. luckily the vcr had RCA in/out so i could daisy-chain one of the devices and factor out one of them, and the tv had a hidden 3rd input behind a panel on the front so i was able to get it (mostly) all worked out. I think my parent’s uhf tv antennae needs to be put to rest. They just can’t seem to let it go.

    Moo moo moo :)

Yeah, when people remember you name, that is an awesome thing. I just feel bad when I meet someone I haven’t seen in “forever” and their name is on the tip of my tounge…. I feel bad that they remember me, but I can’t do the same :(

As for the umbrella, is it one of those nasty long ones, or the cool small ones that pop out to get longer? Those are fun ^^; you can go up to someone (you know or not :O) and pop it out with the battle cry “UNGARD!” Loads of fun ^^; but even those get a hassle to mess with after a while.

Also, with how busy you’ve been recently; hope you find the time to get that book read :)

I think my schedule is going to level out in the near future, or at least i hope it will.

And it isn’t too difficult to set aside a half hour once you’re in bed but haven’t turned the light out, to read through a chapter or so.
