Camels in the Mist

I had to go downtown again today, as the gateway server (ie, only one visible external to the network) decided it wasn’t going to accept incoming or outgoing connections. I’m really not enough of a *nix guru to say what was causing the problem, aside from how to (temporarily?) fix it.

Xore:	i hate it when i have to go downtown to type “sudo bash”
Xore:	then “ifdown eth0; ifup eth0″
Mike:	that’s annoying.
Mike:	just put that on an hourly cron job…

This was the second time it happened in as many days, so i figured i’d set up a cron job to ping an external server and automatically refresh eth0 if it doesn’t resolve. yay for shizzy makeshift solutions.
