Deep Fried Island Camels, Little Camel in the Big City

Xore

Phew. It’s been a while since i’ve blogged. The weekend before last i went across the water to visit my sister in Victoria. It’s a nice place, i haven’t been to the island in quite a few years. We took walked around downtown and took the water taxi around a bit. It’s really nice out on the water, even without shade. We made the mistake of forgetting to put on sunscreen, so my sister got a little burnt, I got a little red on the arms and the back of my neck, which wasn’t too bad, but my sister’s boyfriend got it the worst. Quite a few cherry jokes were made over the next couple of days.

I can now tick off ‘Over the Pacific Ocean’ from my list of ‘Places where i have run a webserver’, which include ‘Underground’, ‘On a train’, ‘On a bus’, ‘On a mountain’. I’m still waiting to tick off ‘10,000 feet up’ … I didn’t have my laptop yet when i flew to Toronto last year. If i ever do end up in Toronto again, i’ll be sure to bring it to the top of the CN tower and add ‘At the tip of canadas tallest phallic symbol’. The The Flying Gridswarm, and the UltraSwarm still pwn me though. Life is hard.

The week went more or less uneventfully, right up until Friday, when my friend Andrew convocated from SFU. Congrats to Andrew, he earned it. My roommate Pete also graduated, and a couple other friends from CS. Silly camel, I forgot to apply for graduation. Oh well, there’s always next time.

Service at certain 24-hour “Night And Day” (cough) restaurants leave a bit to be desired… you don’t leave a coffee addict suffering from withdrawal symptoms waiting on his coffee order for a damn half hour. I don’t care if your coffee is too strong, too weak, watery or downright evil. Just give me my caffeine hit x_x.

Saturday afternoon in Richmond playing God of War, pool, and late night all you can eat Sushi (yum).

Sunday, slept.

Tuesday (yesterday) evening, i headed downtown at the prompting of some friends for a juggling club. I’m still relatively new to Vancouver, i got lost trying to find the Plaza of Nations (went the wrong way around the stadium after getting off Skytrain, landed at the foot of the Cambie Bridge before deciding i was more or less lost. I found it eventually, after wandering around in the rain for a half hour. And so i got some juggling practice in. I’m not proficient at it yet, but probably a little more practice and i should be able to keep a sustained juggle going.

The sleeper hit, is of course the next day, when all that running after and bending down to pick up juggling balls for several hours catches up to you. Suddenly you realize that you do, in fact, have an ass, and yes, it hurts like hell. There’s a bunch of bad jokes to be made for that statement, and i’ll thank you to snicker at them privately but otherwise not post them in my comments :P

Cambie Street Bus for teh win. Main street construction can kiss my aaaa…hahahaha ! Hi kids! Wasn’t that fun?
